(NECN: Lauren Collins: Gilsum, N.H.) - Police have confirmed that Matthew Slocum, the 23-year-old wanted in connection with a fatal fire in upstate New York and a kidnapping in North Adams, Mass., has been arrested.

He was captured at about 10 p.m. Wednesday, apparently peacefully, in the small town of Gilsum, N.H.

Police officers were seen carrying a baby and accompanying a woman fitting the description of kidnap suspect girlfriend Loretta Colegrove late Wednesday night, and Matthew Slocum was captured shortly thereafter.

The FBI, State Police, and local police were involved in the incident.
