(NECN) -  Royal baby watch is heading into overdrive, with the Duchess of Cambridge just past her due date.
This baby for Will and Kate is truly a history-maker.
Arianne Chernock is a professor of British history at Boston University. She joined NECN to talk about the impact this baby will have.

If the child is a girl, she could very well rise through the monarchy.

She said if one looks at the history, it has primarily been women on the throne.

She said that the couple is trying to be more modern, yet maintain their privacy.
