Man Charged After Break-In at Kennedy Compound

Intruder told police he was in search of Katy Perry when found at Ted Kennedy's Cape Cod home

(NECN: Justin Michaels) - Tuesday night's break-in at the Hyannis Port Kennedy compound was at the home of Ted Kennedy Jr., who is running for Connecticut State Senate.

James Lacroix, 53, is accused of breaking and entering into the compound.

Kennedy Jr. was not there at the time of the break-in.

Barnstable, Massachusetts police say they got a call around 9:30 p.m. from Kennedy who was at his home in Connecticut.

Kennedy called to checkup on his teenage son when a man answered the phone. The man identified himself as James Lacroix. When police arrived they saw a black Corvette in the driveway and found Lacroix in the kitchen.

When they asked what he was doing there, he said he was looking for famous pop music star Katy Perry.

Police say Lacroix got to the home at 6:30 p.m. He apparently spent about three hours at the Kennedy home.

The teenage Kennedy was there at the time and was unharmed.

Lacroix is charged with breaking and entering and will be arraigned in Barnstable District Court Wednesday morning.
