Militant Attack Causes Vast Blackout in Pakistan

A massive blackout struck Pakistan early Sunday, leaving as much as 80 percent of the country without electricity at its height as officials rushed to restore power, The Associated Press and NBC News reported. The blackout was caused by a militant attack on a transmission tower in a southwestern province of Pakistan, said a spokesman for the country's Ministry of Water and Power. Restoring power to the system would take another six to eight hours, the spokesman said.
