People on Cape Cod were shocked to witness a shark attack Wednesday.
"I did notice he was breathing heavy," Nancy Bunson, an eyewitness, said of the male victim who was attacked at Long Nook Beach in Truro, Massachusetts. "He didn't look at us, maybe he himself was in shock and stuff. We didn't hear any complete words from him."
After the attack, a large shark could be seen swimming just offshore. It's not clear if that was the shark that bit the 61-year-old man, whose name has not been released, but shortly after the attack, some people were back in the water.
"I went in. I was looking around as I was in the water," said Elena Cervone.
Word of the attack spread quickly.
"It's just awful. I have two teenage girls who just surf in the area, in Wellfleet," said Mandy Carlozzi. "We're residents, and I mean, we've been hearing it's not if, it's when it happens."
There are no lifeguards at the beach, although it's still a popular one for many locals and tourists.

"I worry about my grandchildren because they go out and they're not afraid," said Bonnie Cooper. "We tell them all about how there's these great whites out there, and they still go out on their boards."
Even though this beach is temporarily closed, some people plan to come back here Thursday and go swimming.
