Prosecutors in Hernandez Case Seek Additional DNA Testing

Prosecutors filed motion asking for permission to test samples of evidence with "limited biological material'

Prosecutors in the Aaron Hernandez murder case out of Bristol County are seeking additional DNA testing.

They've filed a motion asking the judge to authorize testing on samples of evidence with "limited biological material".

Prosecutors want to test fingernail clippings and scrapings from victim Odin Lloyd's left hand. They also want to test swabbings from a .22 caliber pistol, found in North Attleboro, Massachusetts.

Lastly, the paperwork says prosecutors want to test swabbings from firearms and ammunition recovered at Hernandez's North Attleboro home, along with testing on his rental car and black hummer SUV.

Prosecutors want to allow Hernandez's defense to have their own expert present because the testing, in some cases, could consume the entire sample.

The prosecution says, down the road, this would avoid any possibility of the defense trying to claim the testing procedures were prejudiced.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to Lloyd's murder and two others out of Suffolk County.

A trial date in the Lloyd case has been set for January.
