Police are still searching for the man that tried to abduct a young girl in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood Tuesday morning.

The 12-year-old girl was walking to school when the man attempted to kidnap her near the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Brookford Street.

Police said the man grabbed the girl from behind, but luckily she fought back and made enough noise to wake the neighbors. Her screams caught the attention of a good samaritan who rushed to help.

The suspect fled the scene after being confronted.

"That's terrifying to see someone following a little girl," Racheal Ali from Hyde Park said. "I think of my child walking to get the bus. That could probably happen to my child."

"She's doing alright," said the girl's stepfather, Hector Rodriguez. "She's a little bit shaken up, nervous."

Police shared a surveillance photo of a person of interest. He is described as being clean-shaven, and between six feet and 6'2. He weighs about 200 pounds and was wearing a black baseball cap, a black T-shirt and tan pants.
