FOXBORO -- Veteran Patriots tight end Alge Crumpler has participated in training-camp scrimmages against other teams before, and he likes them . . . for a very simple reason.

"You get tired of banging the same guys every single day," he told Tom E. Curran Monday on the eve of the Pats' two days of practices against the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints.

But it's more than just having different targets.

"It's good to get a different look, work against a different team," he said.

"I think it's good for the league that teams can come in and get some good work."
