In an interview with WEEI.com's Chris Price on Wednesday night's Sports Tonight, Michael Felger said Tom Brady's exclusive Wednesday interview with Yahoo! Sports' Michael Silver lends credence to Silver's June report that there was -- at the time, if not now -- a "disconnect" between Brady and the Patriots, a report mocked as unfounded by many Patriots fans.
"Even the worst footy-pajama Patriot fan has to agree now there was a problem, and I'll tell you why," said Felger. "Tom Brady, in terms of doing media the entire year, has done basically nothing. He's only given one exclusive interview that I can tell since the end of last season, and that was today. To who? Mike Silver of yahoosports.com . . .
"Mike Silver was the guy who started this whole brouhaha two months ago. He wrote the story about the disconnect between Brady and [Patriots owner Robert] Kraft. Silver's been vilified by a lot of the Patriots fans for stirring something up. 'What are your sources?' 'Who are you talking to?' 'You're just making it up.' Blah, blah, blah.
"Oh, who's he talking to? How about Tom Brady? Tom Brady has given only one exclusive, in print anyway. It was to Mike Silver, today. So I think that was telling. I think it gives tremendous credence to what Silver wrote two months ago. It basically confirms it, because if it wasn't true Brady would have told him today, 'What you wrote wasn't true.' "
Price agreed, saying Silver is the one "national writer who really, I think, is connected to Brady. If you go back, if you look at Silver and you look at his background, he's a central California guy, he has a lot of ties to Brady."
