FLOWERY BRANCH, Georgia - It started with a laser pass underneath that ricocheted off Fred Taylor's chest. Next, it was Brandon Tate along the back line of the end zone with a ball glancing off his hands (tough chance). Finally, it was Taylor Price coming open in a tiny window and slowing up so that all he could do was get a palm on a bullet from Tom Brady.
At Tuesday afternoon's practice with the Falcons, the Patriots quarterback kept his agitation non-verbal. But the way he bent at the waist and stared at the ground showed his frustration with a red zone passing session that was . . . forgettable.
When the drill ended, Brady summoned Taylor to an empty piece of end zone and the two ran about 15 play-action curls that would be used in short yardage. Taylor caught them all.
Earlier on Tuesday, Brady noted that his arm feels good and that he's not on any kind of pitch count in camp. The strength has been obvious as Brady's throws have been astoundingly fast. The difference is obvious when you watch Brady take a rep followed by Brian Hoyer.
Other nuggets for the afternoon . . .
Defensive lineman Myron Pryor left practice with an apparent left hand injury. He was moving it, so it will likely be fine.
The teams practiced in shell shoulder pads and shorts for the second time.
Brady took reps with all three groups on the depth chart in the red zone. Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman both had nice catches in deep.
The teams will have a walkthrough Wednesday before Thursday night's game.
