Baseball Is Back: Bruins Fans Start ‘Yankees Suck' Chant at TD Garden

You've heard the old saying: Baseball season doesn't really begin in Boston until you hear the first "Yankees Suck!" chant.

Fortunately, Bruins fans at TD Garden on Wednesday night allowed us to get underway.

In the final minutes of Boston's 6-3 drubbing of the New York Rangers, the Garden faithful dusted off a time-honored tradition.

It's perfect timing, of course, because the Boston Red Sox begin their 2019 regular season Thursday night in Seattle. You'll notice they're not actually playing the New York Yankees, but anyone who's spent any time in Boston knows "Yankees Suck" chants don't exactly have strict guidelines.

In fact, this is the second time this season Bruins fans have pulled out the chant: Back in October, while the Red Sox were battling the Yankees in the 2018 American League Division Series, the TD Garden faithful obliged with a hearty "Yankees Suck" chant, to which B's coach Bruce Cassidy replied, "I agree with that."

With New York's hockey club in town and spring in the air, Wednesday night at TD Garden was a fitting time to roll it out again.
