(NECN: Marnie MacLean) - An insurance agent in Belfast, Maine is  facing a murder charge after police say he forced his way into a home and shot two people.

Investigators say 44-year-old Todd Gilday shot and killed 55-year-old Lynn Arsenault and injured her 22-year-old son, Matthew Day.

It happened Wednesday 11 p.m. A next door neighbor said he heard arguing, a pop and then a woman scream.
When police arrived Arsenault was dead. Matthew Day identified Gilday as their attacker but said he didn't know why the man targeted them.

Arsenault was visiting her son when the shooting happened.

An overnight manhunt for Gilday ended Thursday morning when he checked himself into a hospital in Rockport. Police arrested him and took him into custody.

Neighbors say the house was the site of many loud parties and they claim they witnessed drug activity.

The Maine Revenue Service says Gilday worked as an insurance examiner in recent months but was fired in July.

Gilday made his first court appearance Thursday afternoon. Day is recovering from his wounds at a hospital in Bangor.
