BOSTON (AP) — One of the three Boston MedFlight helicopters has been grounded due to mechanical problems.
The Boston Herald reports ( ) the helicopter was taken out of service on Friday afternoon after an alert light came on.
MedFlight chief executive Suzanne Wedal says the helicopter could remain on the helipad at Massachusetts General Hospital for several days while crews troubleshoot the problem and make repairs.
Wedal says the chopper is not blocking the other two from taking off and landing from the roof of the trauma center.
She acknowledges that the problem, along with scheduled maintenance on the fleet led MedFlight to ask another emergency carrier to cover the area for a short time on Friday.
She says that's not unusual and patient care was never in danger.
