(NECN) - Writer, actor, comedian, husband, father has won three awards at the Boston Film Festival for his latest, "certainty,"  a serious film about pre-marital counseling, love, faith, and religion.

He has tried to tell both sides of the story of people who are looking for faith in their lives and others who have had a very negative experience with organized religion. He is unapologetic about the the serious nature of the material, allthough he calls the movie a comedy drama with a superb ensemble cast.

"If you're going to get married, it's a heavy subject," O'Malley said. He is currently shopping the film around to various distributors.

Menawhile, O'Malley has just finished the third season of the wildly popular "Glee," in which he plays the working-class father of an openly gay son.
