(NECN) - In her concession speech Tuesday night after the Boston mayoral preliminary election results came out, Charlotte Golar Richie thanked her supporters and congratulated Marty Walsh and John Connolly, who continue to the next round in the mayoral race.

"This was not the speech I wanted to give this evening. We wanted a different result, but it's a historic night nonetheless, right?" she says in her speech.

Golar Richie says her campaign for mayor of Boston was "groundbreaking."

"It's a disappointing night, but you know what we did, everybody? We opened a door. We opened a door, and somebody else is going to have to through it next time," she says.
