Conn.-based company may furlough up to 5K workers

(NECN) - Connecticut-based United Technologies Corporation says it may have to furlough up to 5,000 workers if the shutdown continues into next month.
The company says it must stop some defense manufacturing because government inspectors themselves have been furloughed.
United's Sikorsky division makes black hawk helicopters.
The company expects to furlough nearly 2,000 employees by Monday, including some in Connecticut.
