NYC SUV family speaks out about violent encounter with bikers

(NECN) – On Friday, NECN heard from the wife of the SUV driver who was involved in a scary confrontation with motorcycle riders in New York City.

Rosalyn Ng was with her husband and their 2-year-old daughter on Sunday when their Range Rover bumped one of the bikers.

A throng of riders their surrounded SUV. Her husband drove thru the crowd, striking more bikers.

In a statement, Ng says he did what he had to do.

"We were faced with a life-threatening situation, and my husband was forced under the circumstances to take the actions that he did in order to protect the lives of our entire family,” said Ng.

One rider has been charged. Another, a man from Lawrence, Mass., suffered severe injuries in the incident.

Police and prosecutors continue to sort out exactly what happened and try to determine who is to blame.
