(NECN) – It turns out that Boston Marathon bombings suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has gotten a lot of support in jail, in the form of mail and letters.

Attorney General Eric Holder says Tsarnaev received nearly one-thousand pieces of unsolicited mail while in custody.

Tsarnaev's attorneys say none of the mail is jihadist in nature.

They say most of it was letters and cards from people who believe he's innocent and those who want him to repent and convert to Christianity.

Tsarnaev has asked a judge to lift restrictions placed on him in prison.
