A high schooler who survived a mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, and one of the co-founders of the March For Our Lives movement has been accepted to Harvard University.
Jaclyn Corin, a current senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, posted a screenshot of her admissions letter to her Twitter account with the caption "Hard work pays off."
Corin was accepted into the 2023 class under the early action program. Although she was admitted, she did not say whether or not she will move to Cambridge in the fall.
After the Feb. 14 massacre that left 14 students and three faculty members dead, Corin took initiative to organize buses transporting her classmates to Tallahassee to speak with lawmakers on gun reform.
Since then, Corin and others have advocated for gun control and registering young voters.
Corin accepted a Children's Peace Prize in South Africa for her advocacy work along with other students. She was on the cover of Time Magazine with some of her classmates who are part of March For Our Lives and also helped organize the March For Our Lives protest in Washington D.C. this past March.
