Comcast SportsNet's Gary Tanguay says he spoke to an NFL source -- "who's been involved in the NFL for 25 years" -- who doesn't think the Patriots will trade holdout offensive lineman Logan Mankins.

"I don't think [the Patriots will trade him]," Tanguay quoted the source as saying. "I don't think the Patriots want to let two players shoot their way out of town. It sets a bad precedent."

The first, of course, was Randy Moss, whose trade to Minnesota is widely thought to be the result of his unhappiness over his contract situation . . . even though both Moss and Patriots coach Bill Belichick deny that's the case.
