(NECN) - In Connecticut, convicted murderer Steven Hayes is asking the state to execute him.

Hayes has been on death row since 2010 after his conviction in that Cheshire home invasion and triple murder.

He now wants to waive all appeals and be put to death.

In a newly released letter, Hayes says that's because he has been subjected to cruel and unusual punishment by the prison staff.

The public defender's office is handling Hayes' case and has declined to comment.
