Clay Buchholz Banished to the Bullpen

Eduardo Rodriguez is slated to start Tuesday

The Boston Red Sox have yanked pitcher Clay Buchholz from the starting rotation and sent him to the bullpen, the team announced Friday.

Manager John Farrell said Eduardo Rodriguez is scheduled to be activated from the disabled list and start Tuesday against the Orioles.

Buchholz has struggled in his last 10 starts, going 2-5 with a 6.35 ERA.

The 31-year-old ranks 103rd out of 104 starters in the MLB with enough innings to qualify for the ERA title.

Rodriguez will make his first start in the majors this season after recovering from a knee injury he suffered in spring training.

The 23-year-old was 10-6 with a 3.85 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 121.2 innings as a rookie last season.
