Mailer ad criticizes Connolly, Boston mayor candidate

(NECN) – Both Boston mayoral candidates, City Councilor John Connolly and State Rep. Marty Walsh are criticizing a mailed advertisement that criticized Connolly.

The mailed ad was from a political action committee known as Working America. It attacks Connolly’s upbringing and socio-economic background.

Connolly decried its "personal attacks and misrepresentations.”

He also blamed the mailer on the Walsh campaign.

Walsh denied that and calls on those responsible for the mailing to stop mud-slinging.

Some Walsh supporters and surrogates have attempted to make the differences in the candidates’ backgrounds and upbringings a theme in the race.
