Boston just ended its stretch of high temperatures reaching or exceeding 80° at 19 days.
It was still plenty humid across the region, but clouds, downpours and an onshore flow kept temperatures down. Rain was locally heavy throughout central and southern New England Saturday – we can expect similar conditions Sunday and Monday.
This soupy, tropical air mass will continue to produce localized downpours. Areas that have seen some of the more persistent downpours have received more than 3 feet of water. Flooding will be a concern through Tuesday. The ground is saturated and can’t hold that much more water.
Although it will remain cool for the next couple of days, 80s will make a return by Tuesday. At this point, our driest days look to be Friday and Sunday (next weekend). There will be on and off showers for the next week to ten days.
If you live or travel near the ocean, coastal flooding is also a concern the next couple of days. Astronomically high tide, an onshore wind and rising sea level will be enough to cause minor coastal flooding.
