BOSTON (AP) - By virtue of the American League winning the All-Star Game this season the Boston Red Sox have home field advantage in the World Series. That means tonight's opening game is in Boston with the Red Sox entertaining the St. Louis Cardinals.

These are teams very familiar with the feel of late October baseball as this marks the fourth time they have met in the World Series.

The Sox and Cards met in the Fall Classic in 2004 with Boston sweeping St. Louis and ending its 86-year World Series championship drought. The Cards won the previous two encounters.

The Red Sox are trying to win their third crown in 10 years. St. Louis is aiming to take its second title in past three years and its third since 2006.

Tonight's pitching matchup has Jon Lester going for the home team against Adam Wainwright.

Game 2 in the best-of-seven series will be played tomorrow night at Fenway with games 3, 4 and, if need be, 5 slated for Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
