Massachusetts School Marks 1 Year Since Teacher's Murder

Danvers High School plans on honoring Colleen Ritzer's memory this week

It's been one year since Danvers High School teacher Colleen Ritzer was killed and the school plans on honoring the young teacher's memory this week.

The school will pause for a moment of silence after morning announcements Tuesday. A remembrance board will be set up in the school's atrium for students and staff to write a memory of Ritzer for her family. Social workers will also be on hand.

Junior John LeBrun, who had Ritzer for honors geometry last fall, tells The Salem News the school has always honored Ritzer's memory, including days where everyone wears pink, her favorite color, and remembering her inspirational sayings, including "Find something good in every day."

A former student charged with murder in her death is awaiting trial.
