HADLEY, Mass. (AP) - A firefighter has been injured in a blaze that has spread to most of the businesses in a strip mall in Hadley.
More than 60 firefighters are working to extinguish the fire, which was reported about 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
The Springfield Republican reports that the 15-unit structure on Route 9 has a mix of apartments and businesses. At least eight of the units have been destroyed or damaged and occupants have been evacuated.
A firefighter who was injured while fighting the blaze has been taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
It was not immediately known where the fire started or what caused it. Officials say firefighters are trying to stop the fire from damaging the remaining units. Firefighters are expected to be at the scene all night.
