(NECN) – “Sports Illustrated” is reporting Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey was handed a subpoena tied to the Aaron Hernandez case.
Pouncey was served less than an hour after the Patriots beat the Dolphins at Gillette Stadium.
A source with knowledge of the matter told “Sports Illustrated” the subpoena is related to Hernandez's potential involvement in interstate gun trafficking.
Pouncey is a close friend of Hernandez and a former teammate at the University of Florida.
Pouncey's twin brother Maurkice plays for the Steelers, who are coming to Foxboro next Sunday.
A subpoena does not mean Pouncey is charged with or will be charged with a crime.
NECN has not been able to independently confirm the “Sports Illustrated” report.
