‘Band-Aid Bandit' Busted in Burger King Bathroom

Robert W. Wixon is charged with armed robbery

Boston Police say they arrested a Band-Aid wearing bandit in a Burger King bathroom after he allegedly robbed a bank in South Boston on Monday afternoon.

Robert W. Wixon, 53, of Boston, is charged with armed robbery. His bail was set at $100,000 at his arraignment on Tuesday. It wasn't immediately clear if he has a lawyer.

Around 2:50 p.m. Monday, Boston Police said they responded to a call for a bank robbery in progress at the Citizens Bank branch at 441 West Broadway.

An officer in the area saw a man matching the suspect's description, wearing a Band-Aid on his face, walking into the Burger King at the corner of D Street and West Broadway.

Officers entered the Burger King and were immediately directed to the bathroom. They opened the restroom door and found the suspect sitting on the toilet. A pat frisk revealed a large bulge in his left pocket, which turned out to be about $3,500 in cash.

Bank employees told police that the suspect had entered the bank, pulled his sweater over his head and put his hand on his hip as if to motion that he had a gun. He then demanded all of the teller's money and fled in an unknown direction.
