(UPDATE: 11/9/13, 12 P.M.) - The 18-month-old boy, Bennett Roaf, has now died from his injuries.

(NECN) - Worcester, Mass. Police say a child and mother were struck by a motor vehicle Friday afternoon.

According to police, it appears that a vehicle traveling down a sloping driveway in the area of Bjorklund Avenue and Chester Street struck an 18-month-old boy and his mother.

Police say the boy has been transported to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries, and the mother is also at the hospital being treated for a shoulder injury.

Worcester Police is still on the scene investigating.
