(NECN: Kenneth Craig, Worcester, Mass.) - Many people around the nation will be observing Veterans Day on Thursday.

In Massachusetts, there is a new program dedicated to helping new veterans make the transition from jobs in the military to the civilian workforce.

UMASS has established the Veterans Associates Program, a year-long pilot to assist vets getting back into the workforce.

Each year, about 300,000 troops complete their service and return home.
