ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — A 19-year-old student at Montgomery College has been questioned after police say he was overheard saying he felt like shooting people.

Rockville police detained the man on Monday after finding him eating lunch. No weapon was found, and he wasn't immediately charged.

College spokeswoman Elizabeth Homan says students alerted campus security after hearing the man say he felt like shooting people just for fun. She says the man, whose name wasn't immediately released, was upset over a breakup.

Homan says the campus wasn't locked down because the threat was generalized and there was no active shooter.

The investigation is continuing.
