Menino to make announcement at Boston University

(NECN: Jackie Bruno, Boston) – With just 54 days left in office, Boston Mayor Tom Menino will address the next stop in his career: academia.

Mayor Menino will become Professor Menino at Boston University. He will be joining the political science department to help run the Urban Institute that the university is starting.

A lot of other colleges, including Harvard University, made him offers, but he chose BU.

So, why Boston University?

“BU gave me the opportunity to do many different things, working with academia, working with students, graduate students, and I just thought it was a better opportunity than most colleges,” the Mayor said.

Many students tell us they are very happy about this.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday, Menino will make the formal announcement at Boston University.
