(NECN) - A Boston College women's soccer player has been suspended by the team because she was tweeting about convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky.

Stephanie McCaffrey posted a series of tweets about Sandusky and the Penn State showers. She has been suspended for Friday night’s NCAA tournament game against Penn State.

McCaffrey is the Eagles' second-leading scorer.

BC athletic director Brad Bates said in part of a statement that this type of behavior is not tolerated among our student athletes and that McCaffrey had apologized.
