(NECN) - The brother of Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan is returning to a Mass. jail.

The Middlesex County DA's Office says a judge has sent Mark Kerrigan back to jail for six more months for violating his probation.

Kerrigan asked to be sent back to jail this summer, saying he preferred jail to probation. A judge denied that request.

Kerrigan was released from jail earlier this year after serving more than a year for assaulting his father Daniel, who later died.
