(NECN) - A 16-year-old boy and his father are facing murder charges in Boston.

Angel Sanchez was arraigned Monday, and his father, Elias Sanchez, could not be in court due to injuries he suffered Sunday, but he will be arraigned at his hospital bed.

Both are accused of fatally stabbing 29-year-old Edwin Santos in the city's Dorchester neighborhood.

Prominent attorney J.W. Carney represents the younger Sanchez.

"No where was it mentioned how my client and his father both got stabbed in this incident. That's noteworthy that those facts are missing from the prosecution's version of events," Carney says.

Juvenile proceedings are generally not open to the public, but Massachusetts state law treats murder suspects under the age of 18 as adults.
