Worker Killed in Construction Accident in Concord

Authorities are investigating how a fatal construction accident happened Wednesday afternoon in Concord, Massachusetts.

Police responded to the Willard Elementary School on Power Mill Road at about 2 p.m. after receiving a 911 call.

According to the Middlesex District Attorney's office, a 55-year-old worker from Sutton had been working on the school grounds operating a flatbed truck with a crane attached to it. A preliminary investigation shows the worker was operating the crane while outside of the truck when an apparent mechanical failure somehow occurred.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.

Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney's office, Concord Police, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are all investigating.

Authorities said at this time, the worker's death is not considered suspicious.
