State police are investigating after a Greyhound bus sideswiped a Chevy Malibu on Route 2 in North Stonington just after 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Police said the Malibu was stopped and pulling into a driveway when the bus hit the car near the Wheeler Middle and High School, according to Chief Charles Steinhart, of the North Stonington Fire Company.
Fire officials said the woman in the Malibu, 41-year-old Kimberly Ann Messinger, was trapped in the car and had to be extricated. She was transported to Backus Hospital.
Officials said her passenger was also transported, but state police reports do not mention a passenger.
The bus was taking 38 people to Foxwoods casino and those passengers had to go through an emergency door to get off the bus.
“Once we got in there, we got them all out by a ladder, relocated them up the street to the firehouse, which was only 100 yards up the road, to evaluate everybody there,” Steinhart said.
Five passengers who complained of neck pain, back pain and a hand injury were taken to local hospitals, officials at the scene said.

The remaining passengers were picked up by other buses from Foxwoods and transported to the casino.
State police are investigating the crash.
Route 2 was closed from the intersection of Norwich-Westerly Road/Route 2 and the New London Turnpike/Route 184 from 8 p.m. to about 11:15 p.m.
