(NECN/NBC News: Sarah Dallof) - The chaos of “Black Friday” is a mere memory as shoppers log onto their computers for “Cyber Monday."
This year, it's expected to smash all kinds of online shopping records.
“Cyber Monday” is expected to bring in some $2 billion in sales.
Craig Berman, VP of Global Communications of Amazon said, "We do think this holiday will be our best ever."
At the amazon.com fulfillment center, there are boxes as far as the eye can see.
People and machines are working in tandem to get them all packed, addressed and out the door.
Berman said, "We're hiring 20,000 more seasonal workers than we did last year."
Santa may not be able to handle “Cyber Monday” deliveries, but bompanies like FedEx can.
They estimate they'll send out 22 million packages.
FedEx CEO Patrick Fitzgerald said, "We have to plan for it year-round, but we're ready."
“Cyber Monday" sales weren't as impressive in 2005, when it was first coined by a division of the National Retail Federation.
It was just the tenth busiest online sales day.
This year it's expected to be the busiest.
Shopper Hannah Johnson said, "A lot of stores have good sales online."
Shopper Tonya Alcala said, "We don't have to deal with lines."
Consumers are realizing the advantages of knocking off their holiday shopping lists with a few keystrokes.
