(NECN) - Basketball Hall of Famer Bill Walton has experienced much success - along with numerous injuries - throughout his career.
Walton recently suffered from debilitating chronic back and leg pain, which nearly compromised his job as a commentator and left him unable to walk, sit, or even drive a car.
Finally, Walton found relief from his back and leg pain after undergoing minimally disruptive procedure known as XLIF® (eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion).
Walton is now sharing his story as a spokesperson for The Better Way Back®, a patient support and education program developed and funded by NuVasive®, Inc.
The program is dedicated to helping individuals overcome the challenges of chronic back and leg pain by providing them with the resources they need to help find treatment.
Bill will be speaking at a free seminar with local Boston spine surgeon Louis Jenis, M.D., on treatment options for back and leg pain Wednesday afternoon.
Fans and back pain patients can check out Wednesday's big event at the Westin in Waltham at 1 p.m.
