(NECN: Justin Michaels) - It's a tragic Christmas morning for families of two volunteer firefighters from New York who were shot dead by an ex-con who set a fire to lure them there.

At least two others were injured.

The shooter has been identified as William Spangler, and he has a long criminal past, including being found guilty of killing his grandmother. Police said that he shot and killed himself.

The small vacation town in Webster, N.Y. is in shock from the loss of two of their finest.

NECN's Justin Michaels has more on the story.
