A Medford, Massachusetts, man won $1 million on a scratch off lottery ticket.

Chi Chan was the first $1 million prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery's new scratch off game "Ultimate Millions."

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Chan decided to purchase a ticket from a vending machine after he had just won $1,000 from a previous ticket.

Chan returned to the Mass. Lottery headquarters in Braintree to claim his prize.

He opted to receive his prize in a one-time cash payment and took home $650,000 before taxes.

There are four $15 million prizes and 65 $1 million prizes remaining in the "Ultimate Millions" instant game.

Five additional 41 million prizes will be awarded in the game's Second Chance Drawings.

"Ultimate Millions" is the Mass. Lottery's third $30 instant ticket, joining the "World Class Millions" which launched in 2014 and the "Supreme Millions" which launched in 2015.
