LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A Lincoln man has pleaded no contest to charges he tried to poison kittens with antifreeze.
KMTV in Omaha reports ( ) 35-year-old John Lenzen entered the plea to two counts of animal abuse.
Two girls found the eight kittens near their father's shop and had been caring for them while trying to find them homes but in June five of the kittens disappeared. One was later found dead.
Lenzen, who rented a space near the shop, told investigators he tried to poison the kittens because they made a mess.
He will be sentenced in February.
Veterinarians say as little as a half-teaspoon of antifreeze can cause kidney failure and kill a kitten.
