(NECN/WBBM) - Wrigley Field was a winter wonderland for one more day on Sunday.
The historic baseball park was the site of the NHL's Winter Classic outdoor hockey game on New Year's Day, when the Chicago Blackhawks played host to the Detroit Red Wings.
Over 40,000 fans packed the stands for the game.
As a thank you to the neighborhood, the Chicago Cubs allowed local residents to skate on the rink before it was taken apart.
Skaters of all ages turned out. The event was B-Y-O-S -- bring your own skates.
