(Leslie Gaydos, NECN) - The Central Square theater in Cambridge begins the year with Russian playwright Anton Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard". The Nora Theater Company's production is a new translation by George Malko, written expressly for the company.
The Cherry Orchard is Chekhov’s final and most famous work, written and set in 1904. It chronicles the decline of the Russian aristocracy at the turn of the 20th century through the story of a family's futile attempt to save their beloved cherry orchard. The show is on stage through February 1st.
The Boston Museum of Science and the MathWorks, have launched January free film Fridays at the Mugar Omni Theater. It is a chance for museum goers to travel to some of the earth's most exotic locations or blast off for an out of this world adventure.
This Friday, it is a night on Mars with a preview showing of the museum's newest IMAX film...roving mars.
A look at the mars exploration rover mission launched by NASA in 2003, which sent two roving robots called spirit and opportunity to the surface of the planet. All on the Imax dome screen.
Afterwards, visitors can meet the Cornell astronomer who stars in the film... and can test-drive the museum's personal exploration rover.
Tickets for free film Fridays are available at the box office on the day of the show only. First come first served. The show starts at 6:45 pm.
