(NECN/KFMB: San Diego, Calif.) - Zookeepers have been taking care of a special new arrival at the San Diego Zoo and he made his public debut. Frankie, a baby Western Lowland Gorilla, was born last September and visitors are finally getting their first glimpse of him. Frankie's aunt, not his mother, brought him outside into the gorilla habitat . Zookeepers said gorillas are raised by the whole community not just their mothers. Frankie is still being bottle fed by zookeepers three times a day. He will only be allowed in the outside habitat three days a week for right now. Material courtesy of KFMB.
