Perfect time to celebrate Navy Week


(NECN) - This holiday weekend wraps up the end of Navy Week in Boston.

Vice Admiral Kevin McCoy, the 42nd Commanders of the Naval Sea Systems Command shares some information on the events.

Here is a schedule of what's left on Navy Week's plate:

Thursday, July 2

  • 10 a.m.-5:50 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard-free public tours
  • 10 a.m.-6 p.m. F/A18 Flight Simulator and Chevy Suburban-City Hall Plaza
  • 2 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard-boarding pike and gun drills
  • 4 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard-boarding pike and gun drills
  • 8 p.m. Northeast Navy Showband Concert, Trum Field, Broadway, Somerville. Vice Admiral McCoy to speak briefly. Navy Medal of Honor recipients Captains Tom Kelley and Tom Hudner will be attending.

Friday, July 3

  • 10 a.m.-5:50 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard-free public tours
  • 10 a.m.-6 p.m. F/A18 Flight Simulator and Chevy Suburban-City Hall Plaza
  • 1 p.m. Vice Admiral Kevin McCoy to present a lecture at the Museum of Science
  • 2 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard-boarding pike and gun drills
  • 4 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard-boarding pike and gun drills
  • 7 p.m. Color Guard from the Navy Operational Support Center-Quincy will present colors for the national anthem at Fenway Park for the Red Sox game.

Saturday, July 4

  • 9 a.m. Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall Plaza. Vice Admiral McCoy
to lead the Pledge of Allegiance
  • 9:30a.m.Parade steps off from City Hall Plaza
  • 10 a.m.-Noon USS Constitution turnaround cruise New: She will arrive off Rowes Wharf and fire a 21-gun salute, she will then stop at the US Coast Guard base and fire a 19-gun salute before returning to her berth in the Charlestown Navy Yard.
  • 10 a.m.-6 p.m. F/A18 Flight Simulator and Chevy Suburban-City Hall Plaza
  • 2:30-5:50 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard-free public tours
  • 8 p.m. Color Guard from USS Constitution presents colors for the national anthem at the Boston Pops July 4th celebration at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade

    Sunday, July 5

    • 10 a.m.-5:50 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard-free public tours
    • 10 a.m.-6 p.m. F/A18 Flight Simulator and Chevy Suburban-City Hall Plaza
    • 11a.m.-6 p.m. Chowderfest, City Hall Plaza
    • 2 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard-boarding pike and gun drills
    • 4 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard-boarding pike and gun drills
    • 5:15p.m. Navy Northeast Showband free concert at Faneuil Hall Marketplace
    • 6:45p.m. Sunset Parade, Charlestown Navy Yard. Captain Shawn Murphy, First Mate of the Maersk Alabama, will be honored by the Navy
