(NECN) - TV Diner producer Jenny Johnson is back from vacation, and that means she can resume her weekly duties of informing NECN viewers of the great events each weekend. Today, Jenny tells us of a few great stops you should be sure to make:

Sunday, Sept. 7, brings BluesFest and The Fabulous Thunderbirds’ roadhouse style rock, along with the Chris Fitz Band, Ernie and the Automatics, Mary Lou Ferrante and soul diva Bettye Lavette.

This event is based on the widely successful Taste of Shrewsbury Street which is held each year in June. The College Shuffle will be held exclusively for Consortium students in addition to the local higher education community (including faculty,

administrators, staff and families). The event is co-sponsored by the Consortium and the Shrewsbury Street Area Merchants Association. Food samplings will be available from over 20 Shrewsbury Street restaurants and street performances will be given by the Assumption College Offbeats, the Anna Maria College Jazz Ensemble, the Clark University Hip Hop Collabo, the Holy Cross Ballroom Dance Club and the WPI Jazz Ensemble. The event will also feature contests and free giveaways. The food sampling or "shuffle" will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. The event will be capped off with a special performance by the Improv Asylum at 4 p.m. at the Hanover Theatre. Featured on HBO, the Boston-based Improv Asylum has performed throughout the United States.

Free concert featuring Henri Smith New Orleans Friends and Flavours with special guest Allen Estes Vocalist Henri Smith has been thrilling audiences in his hometown of New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz, with his sophisticated swing and dramatic delivery of jazz, blues, and Cajun flavored music. He relocated to Massachusetts in 2005 after losing his home to the hurricane Katrina disaster. New Orleans born and bred, Henri Smith has long been a radio personality on WWOZ FM, the radio arm of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation. His radio show featured the contemporary jazz that he loves and now sings professionally. With many connections in the music world, he frequently served as emcee at the New Orleans Jazz Fest for artists such as Kermit Ruffins and Ellis Marsalis. As Smith was honing his skills as a singer at gigs around the city of New Orleans. It was the crowd-pleaser, Kermit Ruffins, who first offered Smith a spot during his show at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, bringing the velvet-throated singer exposure to an enthusiastic audience. Now he has gathered together a band of Boston area musicians to continue the great musical traditions of his hometown. Henri hosts N'Awlins East on Cape Ann TV and has appeared in numerous films and Television shows, including The Great Debaters, 21, The Game Plan, All the Kings Men and Double Jeopardy.
