This weekend's opening movies! Hellboy II, Meet Dave, Journey

(NECN) - If you're planning on catching a flick this weekend, we've got you covered.

Boston Phoenix movie critic Tom Meek is in studio to give us his review and preview clips of three movies.

'Hellboy II: The Golden Army' is a sequel to the first Hellboy movie, which takes you on a comic book adventure. Meek considers Hellboy one of the better super hero franchises out there.

'Meet Dave' is an Eddie Murphy movie. He plays a spaceship inhabited by miniature people, of whom he also play their miniature captain. Meek considers it a reverse-Wall-E, and believes the sophomoric humor ruins the charm of the film.

'Journey to the Center of the Earth' is a Brendan Fraser movie which using the Jules Verne novel as a guide to reach the center of the Earth. There is some bonding in this film, which uses 3-D technology. Meek considers the effects to be cheesy, but something the kids may enjoy.
