| November 25, 2008 Newsnight: Paulson's bailout frenzy
|
(NECN: Jim Braude) - Are things so bad that Henry Paulson has finally gotten around to bailing out you and me? Yes, there was more throwing of money at more signs of meltdown in the economy today.
In the latest attempt to thaw the frozen credit markets, the government introduced a massive new program designed to make credit cards as well as loans for homes and cars easier to get. It is, in fact, two separate programs from the Treasury and the Fed which will provide up to 800 billion dollars. $200 billion for companies issuing various types of consumer loans-- and a plan to purchase $600 billion worth of mortgages to combat the housing crisis.
Jim Braude's guest on this segment of Newsnight is Peter Cohan, a management consultant and author of the new book, "You Can't Order Change".
